Why KICK me when I'm down?

Postby table4five on Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:07 am

As if I didn't already feel bad enough (I'm battling fairly severe depression at the moment), I just got this comment on a post I wrote a few days ago in which I reminded myself that it's MY blog, and what I do or don't do on it is up to ME-http://table4five.net/2007/11/24/its-time-to-declare-my-independence-again

And then today, I find this comment from "Anonymous":

Haha,

this is hilarious given you’re being paid to blog. Independence my ass.

http://boards.payperpost.com/viewtopic.php?t=9818

WHY? Why does someone feel the need to be so mean? I don't know how much more of this I can take.

There's always going to be someone who doesn't like what you're doing, or feels the need to tear you down. A while back, I had some people find an older post of mine about work, and they started calling me a b*tch, and lazy, and one went so far as to post as "her boss" etc. Yeah, it sucked. It pissed me off. But the comments got deleted, I closed comments on that post and life went on. You can't let other people ruin what's a good thing for you.

This is the first time in two and a half years that I've had a comment like this. And I have to think it was a POSTIE that left that comment, who else would have seen that post I made on that forum thread? This is the email address which is surely fake- foobar@mailinator.com

It could have been anyone. It's an open board I believe. I've seen a few posts that bash PPP that quote forum threads.

You're right, and I apologize for accusing a Postie, that isn't fair.

Yeah, all sorts of PPP haters read these boards. Links to the boards were even posted in the Tech Crunch comments...

Although some of the haters are bloggers pulling in tremendous money from ads, most are just bloggers praying they will earn $1/day with Adsense. That they hate paid blogging is a mystery to me, since it would obviously help all of the John Chow wannabes to actually earn some cash instead of just whining about it.

I'm trying to develop a thicker skin, I really am. But this is my livelihood, you know? This is important to me. When I started with PPP, I never thought I would still be doing it seven months later, or that I would care about it so much.

And since when is independence and paid blogging mutually exclusive? There is choice involved.

I know it can be hard thinking of the positive, but just think how many great comments you get! Many many more than the bad. :)

In their weenie little minds PPP is responsible for all the evil in the world from Internet spam to the famines in Africa, and Michael Arrington is Jesus Christ come down from heaven to lovingly redeem us all from the hellish flames of paid blogging.

So let it be written. :P

Elisabeth, don't feel that bad, it's just a comment from someone that want to make others feel bad. You have great writing skills and that can cause envy to those that don't know how to write a great post. Ignore, delete!!!
